 Different Types of Vinegars


The history of when vinegar first became known is vague. Many suspect that it was during Egyptian times that vinegar was used most frequently. It was mentioned several times in the bible as well. Vinegar was also referred to as “sour wine” because of the process to making vinegar. Vinegar is made from fermentation of wine, cider, beer, fruit juice, or other alcoholic liquid. Types of Vinegar


White Vinegar is clear vinegar. This type of vinegar may be stronger and is mainly used for cleaning purposes as well as using to pickle foods.

Malt Vinegar: This type of vinegar is made from malting barley. This causes the starch that is in the grain to turn maltose.

Wine Vinegar: This type of vinegar is from either red or white wine. The quality of the vinegar depends greatly on the quality of the wine used.

Apple Cider Vinegar: This vinegar is made from cider. This type of vinegar offers several benefits when using it for cooking. Some use it for their health.

Fruit Vinegar: This kind of vinegar is made using fruit wines like apple, raspberry, tomato, currant and more.

Balsamic Vinegar: This type of vinegar is aromatic. This balsamic vinegar is usually aged for up to 12 years.
